Is Dolmenwood based on or compatible with Dungeons & Dragons?

The Dolmenwood rules are inspired by the 1981 D&D Basic/Expert sets. The game is fairly closely compatible with 1970s–1990s D&D material, but some adaptation will be required.

How does Dolmenwood relate to Old-School Essentials?

Dolmenwood’s is founded around a customised and streamlined version of the Old-School Essentials core rules. Old-School Essentials is not required to play Dolmenwood.

What age group is Dolmenwood suitable for?

Dolmenwood is an adult game with occasional elements of horror, psychedelia, drug use, and sexuality. All of these elements can easily be toned down if running the game for children.

Do I need the Dolmenwood dice set?

While we definitely encourage you to pick up a set of the mossy mushroom Dolmenwood dice, they are not necessary; as any standard RPG dice set works with Dolmenwood (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20).
