I love how easy the scenarios are to read quickly and integrate as a GM. I don't feel overwhelmed and very confident in offering each adventure as individual dungeon crawls. Love OSE and always have!
Great writing.
Read, but not played yet. Seems like a good fit for a group needing short adventures.
Top quality printing and great OSR product.
So, I’ve played D&D for over 44 years (as of writing – 1980 if you must know), from the Basic “Blue Box” through AD&D, 2e, 3e/3.5, as well as others like Twilight 2000, Gama World, Top Secret, Gang Busters, Dark Conspiracy, et al, and ✨ THIS IS A UNIQUE PRODUCT! ✨ [At the risk of violating the word "unique", so is the second anthology!]
The presentation is the best I've EVER seen, from the binding to the maps - just stunning! I haven't been this blown away by something since I first opened I6 Ravenloft in 1983! Clever idea to add the maps at the beginning of each adventure AND inside the front and rear covers. No, not clever - brilliant!
There is a consistency in the brief notation used in all four adventures that is often lost and glaring in a compendium. The beauty of this brevity is that it's instantly playable in OSE (OR D&D Basic), or AD&D/C&C, and is simple to convert to other editions.
All four adventures are unique and fun to read.
The ONLY disappointment was with the last scenario, The Comet that Time Forgot, a clever hex crawl with a tip of the hat to Jules Verne. Over all the years I've been playing, the one thing I HATE to read in a published adventure is represented here as "the referee may wish to sketch out a map..." Nope. That's why I BOUGHT something prepared. It's also disappointing that one of the unsketched features is a fantastic, ghost town - not even artwork to hint at it. Even so, it's a fantastic adventure and, as you can tell, didn't give me cause to deduct even a single star.
This one is worth every cent!
