Goblinville is a tabletop rpg about broke goblins traveling to dangerous and fantastical places to find treasure and make rent. The character creation process is fast and collaborative, producing unique goblins with lots of personality. The core resolution system shares narrative pacing between players and the GM, keeping the focus on clear stakes and tough choices. It's a character-driven dungeon crawler that works for short, punchy sessions and long campaigns. The town itself is the key source of adventure and improving it is a core part of character advancement.
Goblinville Gazette is a zine series. Each issue is hand assembled, stapled and trimmed, with screenprinted covers. Three of the four issues are available now, with the fourth in the works
ISSUE #1 contains the core rules of play. Everything you need to get started is in this issue.
ISSUE #2: Monsters and Mazes contains essays and advice on running Goblinville along with additional monsters and magic items. It also contains three new adventure sites for Goblinville campaigns: The Riven Stone The Unyielding Fist The Lost Patrol
ISSUE #3 is a split/flip zine containing two radical hacks of Goblinville: Mutagen Trail and Picaresque. This text contains the full rules of play for both games:
Mutagen Trail is a roleplaying game for 3-5 players, including a GM, about a caravan of mutants traveling across a tractless wasteland. The mutants have to make decisions to survive day to day in a strange and hostile world. If they live long enough, maybe they’ll find some hope for the future.
Picaresque is a game of drama and intrigue for 3-5 players, including a GM (Grand Maestro). You play well-acquainted lesser nobility of minor name and pitiful means. You are also a picaro: to obey the laws and mores of a petty, corrupt society would be to confine yourself to a life of pettiness and corruption. You deserve more than your current station, and by your wits and guile, you will get it.
